What is Adware?
If you have ever been annoyed by pop ups, or redirected when looking at websites on the internet then there is a good chance your system is infected by adware.
Adware is often referred to advertising supported programs, as the software that is used by the programs is usually made to display advertisements on the infected computer. If you view the internet without any type of internet security then there is a chance your system could be infected by simply visiting a website that has adware on it, downloading a file that has adware in it, or even by visiting a trusted site that was hacked to distribute adware. Anyway that you get it, adware is not a good thing to have on your system, but do not worry there are ways to easily get rid of all traces of adware on your computer.
How to Get Rid of Adware
The first thing to do to get rid of the adware is to get a program that is designed to remove these types of infections. Many programs will have the ability to block adware in real time, which means that the security program will identify the adware prior to an infection and prevent the program from getting onto your system. However, if you are experiencing symptoms of an adware infection such as a pop up it will be too late for prevention and maybe a real time blocking program should be purchased for the future.
Scan for Adware on Your PC
As stated above, there are programs that can do full system scans for adware so the first thing to do is to download one of these security programs and run a full system scan to try to identify the infection. Once the infection has been identified the best thing to do is to instruct the security scanner to remove the adware.
Choosing the Right Software
Although the program might have stated that the Adware program had been removed there are chances that pieces of that Adware infection are still left deep within your system. This is because as Adware evolves the programs are getting into users systems even deeper than before and surviving initial scans.
To ensure that all remnants of Adware are removed the best thing to do after an Adware scan and deletion are completed is to use a windows system optimizer as many times as possible, as adware will actually get deep into the windows registry. Once the registry scan has been completed there will be information as to the severity of the infection from the adware as well as any information as to the changes in the registry from the adware program.
