If you are using a system with multiple users registered to it there might be times when you are trying to open a file and the system will not let you. Many times this error message will be displayed stating something along the lines of access denied or that the file is not accessible. This can be due to a couple of reasons which are listed below.
The first reason that access denied is when the document or file that is trying to be accessed is owned by another user. To change the ownership and resolve the issue that is bringing up the access denied error codes simply follow these instructions:
- Select the folder and then right click on it.
- Then click on the Security tab.
- Then select Edit.
- Now click on your username and left click on the button labeled Apply.
- Click Yes.
This should fix the issue regarding the access denied error messages.
If this does not fix the issue then there could be other causes of the Access Denied error messages. Many times if the file was saved or created with a different version of the Windows operating system there will be errors similar to this encountered. If this is the case the best thing to do is to see if there are individual patches or fixes for the problems that can be applied to enable backward compatibility and remove the issues that cause the access denied error messages.
Another cause of the files being unable to be accessed is due to issues within the registry that are confusing the original owner because there is a conflict occurring. If these conflicts are happening in the registry and causing access issues the best thing to do is to run a full scan with a registry cleaner and identify any issues within the registry. These scans will help to remove errors that could cause access to be denied to various files within the system.
