MSI stands for Microsoft installer now called Windows installer but is still called an MSI and is a type of program that is used to help install programs on to your computer. The MSI program is like a package that is compressed and contains all the important information that is necessary for a program to be installed without an MSI installer program you could not install any programs.
Most of the time the MSI installer program will install a program with no problem but sometimes you may receive an error called and MSI error from the installer program will not install. Code 258 tells you the wait time operation has timed out, you will need to try installing the program again.
Code 1301 tells you cannot create a directory with this name already exists, you will need to delete the directory or create a new directory with a different name
Code 1302 tells you please insert the disk.
Code 1306 tells you the files is in use close the application and try again.
Code 1312 tells you cannot create a file with that name already exists; you will need to delete the file or change the file name.
Code 1313 tells you the volume is currently unavailable. Please select another volume.
Code 1314 tells you the specified path is unavailable, you will need to try a different path or that that may be used at that time.
Code 1320 tells you the specified is too long, you will need to shorten the path name.
Code 1323 tells you the folder that name contains words that are not valid in the folder; you will need to change the name.
Code 1324 tells you the folder path name contains an invalid character; you will need to take the invalid character out of the name.
Code 1327 tells you the drive is invalid, try a different one.
Code 1336 tells you there was an error creating the temporary file that is needed to complete the installation, try again.
Most of these MSI errors can be fixed quite easily but some of them can be caused by a corrupted registry which can cause the MSI error and not allow you to install a program.
