Sometimes when adding a new printer to the system there might be error codes that appear such as the spooler subsystem error. This spooler subsystem error code will usually say “Spooler Subsystem Application has encountered a problem and needs to close.” If this error message comes up there is not a reason to panic as there are a lot of different ways to fix this issue, but the first thing to find out is the cause of the error code that is advising the there is a spooler subsystem issue.
The general cause of these Spooler Errors are related to a dll issue related to the old printer’s registry information. A dll is a dynamic link library file which acts like an instruction between one or more programs on the system and advises them what to do. If you are trying to print something from Microsoft Word to your printer MS Word will look at the dll and find out it needs to send the information to the printer, which also contacts that dll to wait for the instructions. If the new printer requires a newer version of the dll then it will display a spooler subsystem error and advise that it cannot complete the required action.
Now that we know what is causing the issue the next thing is to figure out how to how to fix it. There are two typical ways to fix spooler subsystem errors and there are as follows.
How to Fix the Error
The first way to fix it is to clean out the Windows registry as this is where many dll files are located. If the registry of the system is corrupt or overcrowded with too many out of date entries then the best thing to do is to clean it out. Many registry cleaners will automatically identify and fix these errors for you so the printer can be up and printing right away and avoid any work related to spooler subsystem error codes.
Once the registry cleaner has been downloaded and cleaned out the registry the next thing to do is to install, or update, the dll that is related to the printer service. This is usually done by opening the cd rom of the computer system and installing the software related to the new printer to avoid the annoying pop up error codes of the spooler subsystem. Once the software has been installed, along with the clean registry, there should no longer be any issues or error codes advising of any spooler subsystem problems. If for some reason there is no cd rom player or software included with the printer the next thing to do is to visit the website of the printer manufacturer and download the software directly onto the system. Once this program is installed, and the registry cleaner cleans the system, there will not be any more error codes displayed related to the spooler subsystem and the system will be optimized.
